The Energy Tour started in October 2010 with a pilot phase that covered 15 elementary schools in Podgorica. After finishing the first phase, the planned lessons were continued in the remaining schools in Podgorica as well as in other municipalities. The Energy Tour thus visited a total number of 55 schools in 10 municipalities: Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Nikšić, Cetinje, Bar, Ulcinj, Kotor, Bijelo Polje, Berane and Pljevlja. The total number of pupils who attended the Energy Tour training amounts to 5,288.

Except for the basic task of the campaign, i.e. training, numerous  other activities from the area of project promotion were performed as well:

  • The shooting of an educational-documentary film on the Energy Tour, which was assigned to the NGO „The Greens of Montenegro“, was concluded. Apart from a public TV broadcasting, it has also been envisaged to use the film later during the lessons.
  • The campaign „Energy Tour“ participated in the Science Festival  in September 2010, which was organized by the PRONA Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Science. The interest of pupils and other visitors in the exhibited experiments and the complete concept was evident, too.
  • A two-day public presentation of the campaign was also organized during the New Year’s Holidays in the shopping center Delta City, which also comprised a lottery for the participants and which was attended by many interested visitors.
  • In the TV quiz for children „Expand knowledge, preserve nature“,  the Energy Tour has participated by presenting experiments during the program, as well as by including questions from the area of energy efficiency into the content of the quiz. GIZ-ASE has awarded the winning team of the quiz with a study trip to Berlin.
  • A summer school called „The Planet in our hands“  will offer the opportunity to the most talented pupils of the final classes of elementary school, who show special interest in the area of climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, to deepen their knowledge from these areas in a creative way.
