The Government of Montenegro continues with specific projects aimed at vulnerable categories of society, through the reconstruction of the Home of the Elderly “Grabovac” in Risan, for which the Contract on the execution of works was signed on 9 April 2024 by the Minister of Energy and Mining Prof. Dr. Sasa Mujovic and the Executive Director of RAMEL Marinko Radulovic. The contract was signed under the project “Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings”.
The contracted value of works is EUR 6,566,184.47, and the project envisages the demolition of the existing building built in 1973 and the construction of a new building, with total gross area of 3,403.96 square meters, to accommodate a total of 52 users.
Minister Mujovic pointed out that this is a clear message that the 44th Government of Montenegro takes special care of socially vulnerable, elderly and infirm persons, who need attention and assistance.
Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Naida Nisic, said that that the construction of such a facility sends a positive message that the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the Government of Montenegro take care of the elderly in the way it promised, i.e. that it will provide them to age with dignity, in the true sense of the word.
The project “Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings” is financed from a loan from the German Development Bank (KfW) in the amount of EUR 45 million and a grant from the European Union in the amount of EUR 4.7 million. In addition, the Government of Montenegro has provided 10 million euros in order to increase the scope of beneficiaries and to increase the quality of the project.
The Ministry of Energy and Mining is in charge of the implementation of the project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the State Property Administration.
