The Ministry of Economy in cooperation with the Energy Charter Secretariat has prepared an In-depth review of the energy efficiency policy of Montenegro, in accordance with commitments contained in the Energy Charter. The report includes a review of the situation related to the implementation of the energy efficiency policy in terms of energy consumption as well as energy generation, transmission and distribution.
A general overview of energy efficiency field is provided in the report, taking into account the economic development of the country and situation in the energy sector in terms of development of infrastructure, establishment of a market and energy prices policy. In addition, the report provides a review of development of related policies in the fields of environmental protection and renewable energy sources.
In the process of finalizing the report, there was an exchange of information with relevant entities in order to create an impartial overview in terms of implementation of energy efficiency policy and preparation of adequate recommendations. Representatives of following entities have participated in the consultations: other relevant ministries, energy entities, economy, international financial institutions and organizations, NGO sector etc., which are relevant for developing energy efficiency policy and related policies.
