“The second phase of the project “Energy Efficiency in Montenegro – MEEP 2″ will include 18 health care facilities”, said the Director-General of the Directorate for Energy Efficiency Marko Radulovic, at today’s presentation.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy organized the presentation of the upcoming phase of the program “Energy Efficiency in Montenegro – MEEP 2”, today at Hilton Hotel.
Besides Mr. Radulovic, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Milovan Vujovic and Senior Specialist for Energy of the World Bank Pedzi Makumbe addressed the participants. The Government of Montenegro, on the basis of a loan received from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, provided EUR 6 million for the implementation of the second phase of the project.
In the second phase of the project, in addition to improving the energy performance of health facilities, activities shall be performed to establish a mentoring monitoring system not only for energy and water consumption in health care facilities, but also monitoring the level of comfort as well as creating a sustainable system for financing energy efficiency projects in the public sector. This will enable that works on the application of energy efficiency measures in other health care facilities are financed from the savings that are generated in refurbished health care facilities, after the implementation of the second phase of the project. The implementation of the Project started in 2009 and so far 25 public facilities (16 health care facilities, 8 educational institutions and 1 student dormitory) were refurbished in terms of energy.
“The implementation of the second phase of the project will be another in a series of positive examples in order to improve the conditions and quality of the reconstructed facilities,” concluded Radulovic.
